Unique structures and natural objects inspire me to create sculptural jewelry where organic components are set within a contemporary frame.
Polymer clay has been my material of choice. I hand-form polymer clay with no use of commercial molds. All colors are original colors of clay, no paints applied. I use several techniques including caning, engraving, weaving, layering, piercing and many others for which I don’t have name
I was an environmental engineer who worked as a research scientist at one of the national laboratories from 2001-2006. It was the end of 2004 when I heard of polymer clay for the first time just before helping a friend raising money for my temple by selling polymer clay jewelry. In 2007 I decided to become a full-time craft artist. It was one of a few moments in my life that I leaned towards making critical decision with my heart rather than anything else.
I am very fortunate to receive Niche Awards in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016; and be selected as a finalist for Saul Bell Design Award in 2011 and 2019.
