I have “played” with clay for over 20 years. As a young girl, I was fascinated with art, always drawing, painting and coloring. I found clay as a medium for art during college. I graduated from the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of the Art, and have been working in clay ever since. My pottery is inspired by nature and fantasy, themes present in the art of my youth. Using a combination of wheel throwing, coil, and slab methods, I transform utilitarian forms into exciting and beautiful contemporary stoneware. My work is spontaneous, striving for an organic look. I embellish my pieces with clay additions, carving, and layering impressions of handmade stamps taken from unusual sources. Influenced by the colors and textures found in my many travels and growing up in sunny South Florida, my pallet is lush and vibrant. I am perhaps most notably collected for my mastery of glaze patterning and critical attention to detail. My work possesses a playful touch that speaks to contemporary sensibilities.
